My first exposure to Wire came via R.E.M. and their cover of "Strange." Pink Flag soon became a staple in my friend's car's tapedeck our sophomore year. My dubbed cassette vanished early in the last decade, and it wasn't until I had the good fortune of a friendly audiophile re-gifting me a burned CD of that album that I remembered why Pink Flag was such a big part of our life that year.
